Styling My coffee Table

Happy Friday!! I wanted to share how I styled my coffee table and add a couple tips I used. I have a very minimalist style. Finding the right balance for a table is tricky.  Too much looks cluttered, too little looks bare. For my table, I chose to keep things clean and simple. There are things I knew I wanted to have. Books, Flowers, and candles. My husband picked out our coffee table, and he chose a concrete table with a very large top. So having a minimalist style while trying to style a large table and not make it look bare is tougher then it looks!

Adding different shapes, heights, and textures helped balance out this large rectangular space. I divided it into 3 sections. Within each section, I created groupings of pieces.

I started with the large items which are the books and the trays. These created the foundation of my table. I recently started collecting coffee table books because I absolutely love how they look around the house. So far my collection is small, but I plan to keep on expanding it. I selected 4 books and stacked them from small to large so it creates sort of a tower.

To  add shapes, i decided to mix up two different trays.

By adding a vase and flowers I create the height. I found this vase for only $8 at Tuesday Morning! I couldn't pass it up. You can't go wrong with white accents. They instantly brighten up the area and give you a clean modern look. By adding the flower vase, I have two contrasting heights to  balance out the table. I can now add in the smaller items to the trays.

How cute is this gold giraffe? It goes so well with this marble and gold tray. I found this giraffe for $10 at Target. To create a grouping with the giraffe I added in a small glass bud vase and bud and this geometric ball.   Candles are another thing I cant get enough of. This white candle looks so clean and modern. A perfect accessory for my minimalist style. It smells just as good as it looks. It's not too overpowering. You can literally burn it all day and the scent wont become overpowering. This candle wick trimmer and snuffer go great near the candle.

After I had everything laid out that I wanted on the table, I just shifted and moved things around until they were perfect.  I don't always get things right on the first try. I have to play around until its just right. Don't be afraid to add things in or take things away as needed.

I switched looks on this marble tray several times. The perfect look ended up being with the flower vase and candle. For a finishing touch, I threw white beads over the books adding texture. The beads add a  "not too perfect" element and mix things up.

And there I have my styled coffee table. My minimalist style perfectly displayed. Not too much, not too little.

I've linked some of the pieces and similar items below if you would like to shop.
