Finding My Skin Care Routine
Happy Friday Y'all. TGIF! So glad it's the weekend. Wanted to share what has helped me in taking care of my skin this week. Let me just say, I am NOT the type of girl who puts on makeup everyday. When I am going somewhere, yes. But every day, not at all. So my skin is always on full display. Taking care of it is priority since its on full display most of the time with no cover up.
Until I became an adult. I never had a problem with my skin. Now as I get older, I find myself having to pay more attention in taking care of my skin. My skin problems didn't occur until the last few years. I wouldn't even call them problems, mild breakouts I would say. It was to the point that I needed to develop a skin care routine. I had to develop a routine in cleaning, toning, and moisturizing on a regular basis.

I believe healthy skin starts from the inside out. Upping my water intake has helped tremendously in fighting acne and black spots.
Like many people, I don't have time to spend too much time on skincare. I need something that can be done quickly and still be effective. I have tested and tried different products. Here are a few that I found work really well.
I wash my face EVERY night, No exceptions!
Clinique facial soap mild formula and very gentle on the skin. It is fragrant free. It gently cleanses without over drying the face. The great thing, you don't need a lot. One pump and your good to go. Afterwards, my face does not feel tight or overly dry but clean. It’s a very gentle cleaner that gets deep down in the pores. Cetaphil 's facial wash is another mild formula that I love. I used that for years before trying out Clinique.
Next is exfoliation. I exfoliate, 2-3 times a week with Ole Henriksen sugar mask. This has orange peel to provide that vitamin C . It smells so good and is so soothing. You get a faint scent of orange while using. This face scrub also uses other antioxidants as ingredients such as pomegranate seeds and honey. After applying, I let it sit for about 5 minutes or before rinsing off. I can physically see the difference. All my dead skin has been scrubbed off and my skin is slightly brighter. The best part, Ole Henriksen is a cruelty free brand and does not test their products on animals! As an animal lover, this is important to me. I do not want to support any company that purposely causes harm to any living creature for the purpose of making a profit.
The final and what I believe the most important step is moisturizing. After a thorough cleaning, i need to keep my skin hydrated. I'm still trying to find a moisturizer I love. I tried Honest Younger face hydrating cream. It has essential oils including Chamomile and Calendula. It has a very soft scent that smells great. I also like the organic facial oil. This is especially handy now during the winter when the air is super dry. A little goes a long way. I also this oil mix with my foundation and it gives a dewy look.
The Honest beauty hydrating mist is a great product to get an instant refresh and a quick way to add moisture to your face. If I need a pick me up during the day, a few spritz of this and boom, instant face lift. Also good to set make up with. I keep facial wipes in my bag. They come in handy, especially in the summer. I just ordered some new skin care goodies including a new moisturizer I want to try. I'll be sure to share if I like them. I've linked some products for you if you would like to test out. Have a great weekend!
