Shopping Tips

Decorating can be expensive. So finding the best deal is a must when I am looking for pieces. When shopping, don't just buy something as soon as you see it. There can be a better deal for that exact same item somewhere else. Here are my little tricks when shopping for home decor.

1. Google, Google, Google! I can't tell you how many times I have saved money on something Just by googling it. I have a vase that I absolutely loved when I saw it. Before buying it, I googled the item right there in the store and found that several stores had the exact same item on sale and Amazon had a lower price altogether. Also, by googling you may find that the store you are in may have the item you are looking at on sale on line but not in store. I was looking at a lamp for my mom's house at Target. Before buying it, I looked the lamp up on Target.com and boom, it was on sale. Google is a great tool to use when shopping for your home or shopping for anything really. There are endless deals online.

2. Go in stores and get inspired or order a catalog! Stores create gorgeous displays that can serve as great inspiration. If you have no idea how to style or decorate or just need some type of inspiration, check out store catalogs and displays. Crate and Barrel always has gorgeous displays centered around what season or holiday it is. Great for inspiration

3. Take Pictures. Undecided if you are truly sold on an item? Don't know if it will look right? Don't know if you really like it? Take a picture! When you get home you can really look at it and decide if you really want it. Hold the picture up to different area of where you think you would put it and get a visual idea of how it would look.

4. Have an idea of what you like or the look you are trying to achieve. Going into stores blindly can be overwhelming. There is so much stuff to choose from. Knowing a color scheme is also helpful. Are yo looking for neutrals? Bold colors? Pure white? What's your style? Boho, minimalist, contemporary? Knowing this can help guide you to the area you're looking for.

5. Look online! I personally prefer shopping online rather than in store. There is so much more available online and you can find anything and everything compared to a store. Also items can be on sale on line that are not in store (Target is good for that). If you see an item online that is not in store, most stores will order it for you and waive the shipping costs. Some also have an item to ship to store for pick up and there is no shipping cost for you with that option.

Hope these help. Have a great weekend!
