Styling Tips
This week I want to touch on some styling tips for your home. Through my interior design journey, I have learned quite a few things that have helped me in producing beautiful finished spaces. While my home is still currently underway, I have learned some great things along the way.
Less is more
Don't over crowd your space with clutter. Give accessories room to breathe. You don't have to style every single piece in every single space of your home. For example if you have a coffee table and side tables, Let your coffee table be the focal point by styling and leave side tables bare. Create a nice balance in the space. Make the room feel decorated but not overdone.
Balance Materials. Don't overdo it with one finish or only one material.
Don't hang artwork or mirrors too high. Draw the eyes into the space
Know the scale of your room and get furniture that fits. Nothing looks worse then furniture that is either too big or too small for a room. You want a space that feels complete. Not overcrowded or empty.
Utilize natural light- Don't cover up big windows with furniture or window treatments that are too dark. Let the natural light in!
Add some greenery- I love love love fresh flowers and plants. Opt for live plants if possible. Aside from looking great, live plants purify the air by removing the toxins in your home. However, if you decide to go with faux plants be very very very picky on what you select. You want something that looks real. Crate and Barrel is a great option when looking for faux stems or plants. Their greenery looks so lifelike.
Hope these help. Thanks for stopping by!
