Choosing White paint

Choosing white paint

Choosing white paint seems easy right? White is white. Wrong!

Picking out white paint may seem like a no brainer. But just like any other color, white comes in many different shades. All with different undertones and tints.
Sizing of a room, lighting, natural light, windows ,and decor all make a difference in how your paint appears once applied and dried.

When I moved into my home, the entire house was painted this yellowy beige color that I didn't like at all! It was more traditional and did not match my style. I am more of a modern simplistic kind of girl. So I painted my bathrooms a gorgeous light grey color I saw online. Well, the outcome of my bathrooms didn't look like it did online. It turned out to be a mint green color. Paint fail!

I let it stay for about a year until finally I couldn't stand to look at it anymore. I decided to go pure white for a bathroom face lift.

Picking out the perfect white felt so overwhelming. There are so many shades! You have to determine what will look best in your space. The best way to do that is to get samples and actually apply it to the walls. Are you looking for a more warm white, stark white, or an off white? Warmer whites are softer shades that have a creamier finish. Most soft whites have more of a yellow undertone. Stark whites are more on the colder sides with more blue undertones. And the off whites are more of the beige's but still in the white family.

Here are some white colors I found to be my favorites.

For crisp bright white
Benjamin Moore- Chantilly Lace ( I used this color when I restyled my bathrooms)
Behr- Ultra Pure White
Sherwin Williams- Extra White

For softer/warmer creamier whites
Benjamin Moore- Simply white
Sherwin Williams-  Alabaster

Bathroom color- Benjamin Moore: Chantilly Lace
