Decorating a home can get super expensive especially when you are looking for artwork. Art is one of those things that can get outrageously expensive. You do not have to break the bank to incorporate beautiful artwork in your home. I like to create my own. I feel as if it is more of a reflection and better representation of who I am and my style. I was not blessed with any artistic capabilities such as drawing or painting. So instead, I create DIY art and display around my home. I like to buy really nice empty frames (Pottery Barn gallery frames are my favorite) and fill them with things that I find to be beautiful.
I like to buy prints from Etsy. I favor Parisian or French prints. I created a gallery wall in my bedroom. I ordered several black and white Parisian prints to fill frames I already had. I love the look of French bakeries, Parisian coffee shops, or just the Paris streets. In trying to switch it up a bit, I swapped some of the black and white prints for photos in my phone. It adds some color. My dining room art were DIY as well. For the longest time, I just had empty picture frames hanging over my bar cart. While browsing a website, I came across some African Mud cloth framed art that I loved. The price tag however, not so much. Thousands of dollars. No thanks. Browsing the site, I found they sold swatches of the mud cloth fabric and wallpaper for only $3 per swatch!! I ordered about 4 different samples and spent $12! I added them to the frames to recreate the look. A fraction of the cost.
If you are not aware, I am a collector of coffee table
books. My collection is slowly but surely growing. These books are filled with
beautiful photography and artwork that no one really sees unless they actually
look through them. As I was looking through some of my books, I found pictures
that would look perfect in my home. Like this print that I put on my console
table. Or this print that goes perfectly in my kitchen.
